Winner and Mini 4th of July

Hello everyone! I WON my first blog giveaway! It was very exciting! Lisa over at Mini Addictions offered the below picnic basket. It came with a loaf of bread, cheese, crackers/cookies, apples, knife, napkins, plates, cups and the cloth. She packed it with such care, just look at that sweet name tag that was around the box.  I decided to have a little fun with it and make a 4th of July picnic scene so I added the ice cream freezer, some fireworks, a birds nest, a sand castle and a sand bucket with seashells that I made. I tied it all together with an antique postcard from my postcard collection.

I'll take the postcard away and give you a glimpse of who rode up on a bike. See the hat and parasol?

I'll add a patriotic little boy postcard to this scene and added a boat, ball , a cake and a tub of ice cold watermelon!

Below is how I decided to leave it for a while. I finally got around to painting the base board brown. Now that I'm looking at it I see I need some grass or something. I'm not going to glue any thing down because I want to be able to change things up for the different seasons and all.

Have you noticed that the baby in the carriage on the front porch is the only person living in this farmhouse? Well not anymore! Because I found a grandma at a flea market the other day for $2.50, and she's home made! She is working on a quilt.

You can't tell it in the picture but she is very tall, I call her a giantess! If she stays seated she'll be okay.
Now that I have you inside the house, I'll show you a few new (old) pieces that I've gotten recently.
Below in the kitchen is the bathtub I got.

And in the Library I added a gun cabinet and it even had all 3 guns with it!

In the boy's bedroom I've added some pirate and horse scrapbook embellishments. And the whale mobile hanging from the ceiling. Remember this is a turn of the century maritime farmhouse.

In the attic I decided to leave the wallpaper that was there and just add some studs to the gable area. I think I'll add some studs to the back wall over the paper too. Any suggestions?

Okay, I have one last thing to show you. Remember my so called 1/2" scale village? Well I found another one to add to it. This is how it looked when I bought it...

And here is what it looks like after a few minor changes. I added the blind and open sign in the window of the door, another crate of apples and a few things in the display window. I may do more later, it just depends on what comes to me.

Well that is it for today. Thank you for visiting and have a wonderful week!
